About

Who are you?

Put simply, I (Matt) like wine, and I like it more when we can save money on it. I genuinely believe that there is a wine to suit every taste and budget and I’m happy to go about tasting them all!

Why do you like wine?

Wine tasting is incredibly subjective, and for that reason it can put a lot of people off. They feel that they need to use a certain ‘language’ or do things in a certain way. The fact is, drinking wine is a lot easier than tasting wine. But in tasting, the true enjoyment of wine is found. When one starts thinking about the ‘structure’ or ‘balance’ of wine, it starts adding definition and reasoning to ones understanding and opinions of the wines they like or dislike.

The language that exists helps those interested in wine to provide thoughts and ideas on how a wine is constructed. It is not something that is meant to put people off, it is just something that exists to help people talk about it. Much like sailing, computer games or the literary works of Shakespeare, there is a language to describe and explain the elements and facets of these disciplines, hobbies and sports. And wine is no different. Once you have a basic understanding of this language, and apply it to what is swirling around in your mouth, you’ll be able to understand the complexities of tasting wine which will in turn drive a deeper appreciation.

There are plenty of bloggers and writing about wine. How do I differentiate from them? I want to provide an informed view on wines that I like, and hope that you might like too. I also want to make sure you’re getting value for your money when purchasing wine, so I spend time researching the latest deals to ensure that I can provide you with a list of the best wine deals possible. At the end of the day, I just enjoy drinking, tasting and writing about wine. The views and opinions I express on this blog are mine, but I welcome any comment or debate – wine by it’s very nature encourages this – at times more jovial than at others!

Wine Offers from Australia

Our commitment…

As I’ve mentioned I’m a wine fan. So my commitment to you is simple: to share my ideas, views and random thoughts on the wines I’m drinking and to make sure that I’m helping you save money with the wines that you’re buying. This blog is going to be a mix between tasting notes to help inform your buying and to provide an overview of the best wine offers we can find across the internet.

But who are you…?

I don’t hold any fancy qualifications, and I don’t spend every waking moment thinking and drinking wine. It’s a hobby, a past time, something that provokes thought and discussion, but is not the be all and end all. I just want to use this little corner of the internet to express some opinions and ideas.

More specifically with regards to the who are you bit, I’m Matt and have been interested in wine since about 2007. I’ve attended a number of tutored wine tastings, schools and shows where I’ve learnt a lot and continued to build my knowledge through tasting wine with a certain degree of discipline. I’m 26 years old and work in Media in London. I graduated from Sheffield University where I studied History. I’ve drunk wine for alot of my adult-life, and my parents introduced it to me from an early age, but it was only when I decided that I wanted to learn more about wine did that my interest grow beyond just knocking it back with a steak on a Saturday night! I’m still not sure of the specific reason as to why I decided to learn more, but there is something about the history, romance and discussion/debate that wine evokes that grabbed my attention. For now, it is just an interest and hobby, but I thought I’d put up yet another wine blog to share some thoughts and ideas and perhaps one day this may lead to something more…

For now, cheers!
