Laithwaites was founded in 1969 by it’s eponymous founder, Tony Laithwaite. In the last 43 years he has taken the business from a Ford transit van to a thriving business with a significant focus on it’s online sales in recent years. With a growth in online-commerce in the last 12 years or so, Laithwaites has set up it’s stall as a leading online retailer of wine and spirits.

It regularly provides a number of promotions and deals and heavily advertises on television and in printed press. The strong selling point for Laithwaites, is that because it sells direct, it’s able to offer cheaper prices and promotions to it’s customers. However, Laithwaites doesn’t just stock the cheap and cheerful. It also has an extensive range of fine wines and en primeur wines which puts it amongst one of the higher-end online wine merchants that appeals both to novices and aficionados.

Standard delivery costs £6.99 and takes three working days. However, they also offer a collect-in-store option along with a more expensive ‘guaranteed’ delivery service.
